Make a Hobby Out of Improving Your Brain Health!

Keeping your brain stimulated with intellectual activities can help improve cognitive health! Studies have shown that people who engage in meaningful activities – like trying a new hobby – can be rewarded with many health benefits, such as:

  • Increased memory
  • Increased focus
  • Reduced stress
  • Increased self-esteem and overall happiness
  • Possible lowered risk of Alzheimer’s or dementia

Is there a skill or hobby YOU have always wanted to learn or incorporate into your life? How about…

  • Learn to sew, knit, crochet or embroider
  • Grab a map and explore hiking trails in your community
  • Take a class and learn to paint with acrylics, watercolor, etc.
  • Join a local YMCA or fitness center & take a yoga or tai chi class
  • Check out a cookbook from the library and experiment with cooking new dishes
  • Get out in nature and go birdwatching with a local club
  • Sign up for a dance class & learn a new style – foxtrot, tango, waltz, cha cha & more
  • Audition for a play or musical at a community theater
